In February I spent 10 days in New Delhi to be present on our booth at the major Indian Plastics tradefair – PlastIndia. It was my first visit to India and the experience was amazing. The fantastic cultural richness – the diversity of the people and the heart wrenching poverty all made an indelible impression on me. From a business perspective I found most parties I talked to extremely open, interested in new things and willing to experiment. In my line of work these traits are sometimes far and few between. I am happy to say that quite a few of the customers I met in February have now placed their first orders on our Basell Marketplace.

This time I am going to Mumbai and Bangalore – and I will be meeting with a number of our key customers there – as well as some very good prospects. Key for me is to hear where we can improve and to drum up new business. The next blog-entry will be from Mumbai – so watch this space for my thoughts on the Indian plastic processing industry…
